About Gretchen
Gretchen Janzow came to Capital City Sotheby's International Realty after mentoring under a local Realtor with 46 years of experience. Gretchen recognizes the importance of education as she was an educator before entering the real estate industry. Her negotiating, research, people-managing and organization skills she acquired from her career in education have translated well to her thriving referral-based real estate business.
Gretchen graduated from then Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos Cum Laude with a BA in English and anthropology. Because she has lived overseas as a Rotary International exchange student and an ex-patriot, Gretchen became a Certified International Property Specialist putting her international knowledge to work facilitating residential and commercial transactions for clients and properties both locally and abroad. An environmentalist at heart, she is also an EcoBroker, making her an excellent resource for green and natural building, energy-efficient consultation, and conservation development for commercial and residential properties. She is also a Graduate of the Realtor Institute, a key to more knowledge in aiding her clients in today’s market.
In August 2008, she will be featured as the Green Consultant on Discovery’s Planet Green television show Greenovate (Episode 13), a new reality series. She helped organize the 2007 Natural Building Colloquium in Kerrville, Texas. She is a member of Austin's nationally-recognized Green Building Program and has an extensive network of contractors and consultants in her corner. Every client is important to Gretchen, regardless of price range, as she knows that referrals are the best form of advertisement. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, cultural and community events, plays bass guitar and sings with her band, the Austin Family Jewels.
